What we are asked most.
Does it need power or a network on site?
No. The camera runs from its internal battery, tops up from the integrated solar panel, and talks over cellular LTE-M or NB-IoT with its own eSIM. If a phone gets signal there, the camera works there.
How long does the battery last?
Twelve months and more at typical event rates on the internal pack, and indefinitely where the solar panel sees the sky. The configurator shows how your own event rate and settings change that.
What stops it sending me every bird and gust of wind?
Detection starts on the camera. A PIR wakes it, radar confirms the size and distance of whatever moved, and on-chip AI drops frames that plainly are not what you asked about. Only what might matter is uploaded.
How do I tell it what to look for?
In plain English, in the platform. "Tell me if anyone is inside the fenced compound." "Count the sheep." "Is the road under water?" The model reads each escalated frame against your words and returns a description, tags and a quantified answer.
Can it count and measure, not just alert?
Yes. Scheduled captures with a counting or measuring criterion give you a time series: livestock in a field, containers in a yard, water level at a bridge. Rules on those numbers raise alerts when they matter.
What do I receive when something happens?
A push notification, SMS, email or webhook with the image and a readable account of what triggered it, for example "2 people entered plant room compound, 22:16, both on foot, no vehicle present". Everything else goes into searchable history.
Who runs the SIMs, firmware and fleet?
We do. Connectivity, data, firmware updates over the air, asset tracking and bulk configuration are part of the service, so none of it reaches your procurement or finance teams.
Where is the data held and for how long?
In your own tenant, encrypted, hosted in the UK or EU, for twelve months by default and configurable per customer. Images are processed to answer the criteria you set and nothing else.
Is it obvious, or can it be hidden?
It is small, monolithic and alloy-cased with no separate panel, and comes in brand or covert finishes. IR illumination keeps night capture invisible where that matters.
How images and data are handled.
Machaira cameras capture still images of the scenes our customers choose to monitor. Those images, and the readings that accompany them, are uploaded over an encrypted connection to the customer's own tenant on the Machaira platform, where they are analysed by an automated vision-language model to answer the criteria the customer has set. The analysis produces descriptions, tags and quantities; it does not identify individuals and is not used for any purpose other than the customer's stated monitoring.
Customers are the data controllers for the images their cameras capture and are responsible for lawful basis, signage and notification where people may be recorded. Machaira processes data on their instructions, holds it for twelve months by default or as the customer configures, and deletes or exports it on request. Data is hosted in the United Kingdom or the European Union with strict separation between customers, access is role-based with multi-factor authentication, and every access and change is logged.
